Microsoft Azure Self Service Password Reset
Once your account is synchronized with Azure Active Directory and you have been enrolled in Multifactor Authentication (MFA) you will have an additional feature now available to you, Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).
You now have the ability to change your MS365 password at any time. You will also be able to reset the password in the event you have forgotten it as well. This will then sync down and update your Locus Network logon with the new password after approximately 2 minutes.
There are two paths you can follow to change your password. If you have local Microsoft Office applications installed, you can access your account management page with just a few clicks. In any Microsoft Office application, select the “File” tab at the upper left-hand side and then click “Account” on the lower left hand side of the screen. On the next screen click the “Manage Account” button.
You can also do this through a browser by logging into portal.office.com. Once logged in click on your avatar on the upper right-hand side of the screen and select “View account”.
Both paths will open your Microsoft Account page in a browser.
Select the “Change Password” link and you will be brought to the password management page.
We suggest creating a passphrase with the following criteria: 12 characters consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. For example, 1L0v3DonuT$! Or L0cu$1sC00L!. A passphrase will be easier for you to remember and more difficult to crack. Your passphrase will be valid for 90 days before you will be required to change it again.
In the event you have forgotten your password open a web browser, navigate to portal.office.com, enter your email address, and click on the “Forgot my Password” link.
You will be brought to the account recovery page. Enter your email address and the CAPTCHA code you are presented with. If the initial code is illegible click the refresh button to generate a new one.
Next select the MFA method to verify your identity. Please note that you will need to verify with two methods. Either by Phone Call or Text and the Microsoft authenticator app
For the Microsoft authenticator app, open the app on your phone and select your account. Then, enter the numbers from the “One-time password code” field into the “Enter your verification code” box.
Once your identity is confirmed you will be allowed to reset your password
Once reset, log in using your new password and please note that this will reset both MS365 and your Locus Network passwords
